COLD SHRINK TUBING

Cold shrink tubing provides reliable electrical insulation, sealing, strain relief, and environmental protection without requiring a heat gun or open flame. The pre-expanded elastomeric sleeve is installed over a removable support core and contracts securely around cables, connectors, splices, and terminations when the core is removed.

Its flexible construction creates consistent pressure around irregular shapes while helping protect electrical assemblies from moisture, dust, corrosion, vibration, abrasion, and temperature changes. Cold shrink tubing is commonly used in aerospace, defense, telecommunications, utilities, railway, marine, automotive, renewable energy, and industrial electrical systems where safe, efficient installation is essential.

Cold shrink products may be selected for military and aerospace applications, but qualification requirements vary by manufacturer and part number. SAE AS23053, formerly MIL-DTL-23053, specifically covers heat-shrinkable electrical insulation and should not automatically be applied to cold shrink tubing. Customers should verify individual product data sheets and applicable MIL, SAE, ASTM, UL, or project-specific requirements before selection.
